  1. I took a few of my dvd's and backed them up the other day.

My biggest thing was that I wan't to remove the FBI warnings. After doing so, I believe there were some cells that were linked to one another that I had to delete using IFOEDIT. Once I finished that, I burnt the movie and tried to play on two of my dvd players. One works, the other says it cannot locate disc/disc is unreadable.

My first dvd player actually scans through the chapters to get to the initial main menu, whereas the other won't even bother searching. It just sits at the initial chapter (which should be the FBI warnings I assume) and will not play.

How can I get around this? What did I do wrong?[/b]

An occasional detail might help someone help you. Things like- how did you back them up, how did you remove the FBI warnings, what did you burn with, etc.

Without knowing anything else, I'd guess that you're going to have to do them over to fix whatever the problem is.

Three questions that you should answer before you can expect to get any help:

    1) What programs did you use to burn the disc?

    2) What type of disc is it?

    3) What model is your player?

  4. I used recordmax now, and nero 6 - I burned two copies. Both worked on one player (which was the older one) and the others did not work on the new one.

    I use Maxell 4x, from FS/Staples.

Model? One is a Koss, the other is a Sony. The Koss PLAYS them, the sony does not, and the Sony is brand new.

  5. I also wanted to add that it's just the one particular dvd that I backed up that does not work in the one player.

I have tried other movies that I have backed up, and they worked perfectly.

The Maxells are good media. Maybe you got a bad burn. Were you using your PC for something else while you burned it? That can be risky especially if you have buffer overrun protection turned off.

  7. I leave my pc alone while I burn.

I just tried re-burning it. I'm going to fool around with some stuff.

It sounds suspiciously like a media issue because it's only happening with one disc. I would look there. Maxell is good, but they're not perfect. You can get a coaster with any brand.
