If anybody installs them, post your results.
I'm tired of installing ATI updates for my AIW card and then having to take a half an hour to get my tv out working properly again.

Running a 9600SE, just installed 4.5 and it went fine. Tested with Far Cry, so far so good.

I use Omega Radeon drivers. They work great and you have more controls in overclocking, etc. Here is the link:

    Hi lordsmurf,

There is no benefit for capturing, but there is benefit for viewing and overclocking and performance.

I bought Dell 2001FP 20.1" LCD monitor a month ago and enjoy it very much @1600x1200. But before that I had old Digital (Sony tube) 21" CRT monitor, and I couldn't use 1600x1200 resolution because it was fuzzy.

So, the first benefit is viewing.

With standard ATI drivers I had only following choices:

    1) 640x480
    2) 800x600
    3) 1024x768
    4) 1280x1024
    5) 1600x1200

I didn't use first three resolutions and, as I said, I couldn't use 1600x1200 because of fuzziness. So the only choice for me was 1280x1024 wihch is non standard aspect ration of 4:3.2 or 1.25. And when I was watching my encoded MPEGs in full screen the image was not in correct aspect ratio because NTSC standart TV has aspect ratio is 4:3 or 1.33.

    With ATI-Omega drivers I have:

    1) 800x600
    2) 864x648
    3) 960x720
    4) 1024x768
    5) 1152x648
    6) 1152x844
    7) 1200x900
    8.) 1280x720
    9) 1280x960
    10) 1280x1024
    11) 1360x1020
    12) 1400x1050
    13) 1520x1140
    14) 1600x1200

And I found perfect resolution for me to have sharp text, lot of space on desktop, and correct aspect ration of 4:3 - 1400x1050.

Second benefit is overclocking and increasing video performance.

ATI-Omega drivers come with integrated Control Panel, optional Artifact tester, RadLinker, and RadClocker. With RadClocker you can overclock core and memory speed of the ATI card thus increasing performance. My ATI All-In-Wonder 8500DV has BIOS defaults of 229.50 core speed and 190.13 memory speed. And look at my control panel now:

I can probably go higher, but I need to run Artifact Tester first.

I hope I answered your question.

  11. kabanero.

I am having artifact problems with my Radeon 9700 Pro (little green boxes everywhere) so will try and underclock it see if I can fix it.

I am curious in "Artifact Tester". Is this a ATI app? Where is it available?

    Thanks.

    Hazza.
