use mpeg tools in tmpenc, just make sure you select vcd non-standard as file fromat, pretty self explanatory.

  3. I am also having a problem with TMPEnc while splitting a large mpeg1 file.

I have followed the very easy instructions on the left and managed to transfer one half to another directory no problem.

Then I come to do the second half and it goes through the motions (albeit a bit slower second time because I presume it takes its time to go right from the beginning until it reaches required start time then starts) for video then audio and then I sit and wait for the output file and end up having to go ALT CTRL DEL and find TMPEnc not responding.

    Any clues anyone ?

Edit* by the way I forgot to ask whether in TMPEnc am I supposed to be splitting the file or just taking half of it and dropping it into another directory.

    TVM.

wellmashed, as far as I remember it can take quite long (up to10 minutes or so) with the 2nd part. Be patient.
You can also try to cut with bbMPEG.
However, the best way is not to cut at all. Use the source range filter and encode several parts. Have a look at Sefy's guide. TMPG comes with a batch encode mode, so you can convert the entire movie at once anyway.

  5. Thank you very much for the quick reply.

Ok,i'll give it a go with that batch process.

Only problem I have is that if I go into HELP in TMPGEnc there are NO help files.

I tried the web site thinking I may be able to download them but I can't find them.

    Never mind eh.

Like everything else trial and error will sort it out.

    Eventually lol.

Thanks again for the quick response.

Well, there are no help files. Have a look at this how to use the source range:

Have a look at this topic, how to use batch encode:
