  1. I was attempting to author a dvd with 2 xvid files of The Sopranos. The episodes were originally captured from a high definition broadcast. I am also assuming that the broadcast was an anamorphic widescreen one for the reasons I'm about to state. After having authored and burned the episodes to dvd, the widescreen picture on the final dvd is decompressed and fills out the entire screen. Now the picture is completely stretched and distorted. I am using Sonic My DVD v.5 for the authoring. Can anyone please offer any suggestions as to why this occuring. Thank you in advance for any help that can be offered.

Did you use sonic mydvd for both converting and authoring?

You can use ifoedit and change it to 16:9 anamorphic video and reburn the vidoe_ts folder.

  3. I used MyDVD for the authoring and Nero for the burn. Could you post a link to a guide that might show me how to use IfoEdit in this way. Sorry, but I am not too familiar with the program. Thank you.

never mind -- it was on the dvd in anamorphic in NTSC and 1.33 for PAL (that sucks) ..

Season One was 1.33 for PAL. They got it right for Season Two onwards.
What really pisses me off is that they show the credits in 16:9 on TV, then switch to 4:3 for the rest of the show, yet so many other shows are now being shown 16:9, even on analogue TV (I don't got me one of them new-fangled digital boxes yet . . . . )

  7. I'm sorry to have to ask this question again, but I really need help on this matter at my business and I would greatly appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction. My problem once again is this; I am converting xvid files to dvd but when I do the picture is all distorted and stretched out. I am assuming this is the case because the original source of the xvid files was from high definition and the broadcasts were in anamorphic widescreen. I am using Sonic MyDVD v.5.0 for both the authoring and burning but need not to continue to use this program. Baldrick previously mentioned using IfoEdit. Can anyone please help with directions to correct this or point me to a guide for any program that would help me solve this problem. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!
