I dont have a capture card so this is how i have to do it. I copy the Vhs to the Dv cam alright, but how should I go about the DV --> SVCD part? I know ill probably end up with an XSVCD, which is fine. any halp wanted

Hi!
I use the same system. I own a Sony VX2000 and I can conect a VHS to the camera and the camera to the PC.
The files obtained are 720*576 (I'm a Pal user), but with Tmpgenc you can convert them to the size and format of your choice (XVCD,SVCD,...). You only have to load the desired preset and encode the AVI files.

check the following product that provide you an DV capture card with Pinnacle Express software where you can burn VCD Svcd and DVD directly from the captured footage.
