Hello,
I have just converted a Divx file that is 29.970fps to MPEG2 NTSC for burning to a DVD-R disk.
I used TMPGEnc to covert the divx file to MPEG2.
There was no audio when it was coverted to MPEG2.
I used Goldwave to extract a .wav file from the divx file.
When i had extracted .wav file i used ffmpeggui to change it to a AC3 file.
I then used TMPGEnc DVD Author to make the DVD, using the MPEG2 and the AC3 audio.
Now when i am playing it in my DVD player you can notice the sound is not spot on with the video
I read this in the FAQ,
Do you think the above will fix my problem ?If you get Audio errors, Audio out of sync problems or No Audio at all
Try to convert the audio to WAV audio before converting and use the WAV as audio source. (TMPGEnc can't handle VBR MP3 and AC3 that well)
Cheers

Thats the information about the file, before i have done anything with it.
How do u mean "Test your original file with Gspot" ?

The Gspot test report is above in your post.
Your audio is MP3 and you extracted it the way that I would.
Did you scan the source file for bad frames first? (Link below.)
Did you try playing the DVD-VOB files before you burned to disk? Are they out of sync as well?"Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa -
in virtualdubmod, open up the file and look at the properties. Maybe you'll see something like 20:00.500 for the video and 20:00.000 for the sound. The video/avi may have a delay that won't be reproduced when you're doing the audio and video conversions. You can do something simple like add the .5 seconds of silence to the beginning of the video is behind the audio

I just use virtualdubmod and this is what i got from the file information,
If i am reading it right, the audio is just alittle slower than the video
How can i correct this ?

Try using goldwave, open the divx file (it sounds crazy to open a video file in an audio editor but goldwave extracts the audio only) and then take a look at the length of the audio file. They should match basically exactly. If they don't, you have some work to do. You can timewarp in goldwave to make the file exactly the same length as the video. IF that does not work, see below.
The sound may be 200 ms too slow (common) so delete 200 ms from the beginning of the audio file, then add 200 ms of silence at the end of the audio then save and try again. The key is to determinded if the the audio is out of sync by the same amount over the whole video, or if it drifts one way or the other as time progresses. The former is much easier to deal with than the latter.
Also, use Vdub to get the accurate time of your video. Gspot is always wrong by a few frames, at least for me. Looking at your screenshots you can see that Gspot is reporting a different time than Vdub, I trust Vdub. -
Also, look at the time of your ENCODED video file not the original DivX file!!!! They can be different, especially using TMPGEnc it is NEVER frame accurate when encoding. Use the encoded time of the video to adjust your audio file NOT the orginal. I can't stress this enough.
So to sum up:
Encoded file length - ???
Extracted audio file length - ???
Make the EXTRACTED audio file match the length of your encoded video. If this still does not work, then try to find out if it is out of sync be a specific amount though the whole video and adjust as needed. (guess work more than anything)
oh yea and goldwave will do what you want, use the timewarp feature (don't use the preserver pitch option it is not needed, use the default setting) -
Ok lads cheers for the help
Got goldwave installed.
Just need to encode the dvix file now.
Will be back later as i have no idea how use goldwavecan anyone point me in the direction of a guide for it ?

Right i have encoded the divx file to MPEG2
MPEG 2 = 1:54:13
DIVX = 1:54:15
.WAV = 1:54:15
So the audio is longer than the encoded MPEG2 file, 2 seconds longer
I then used GoldWave and that Time Warp feature and made the .wav file to 1:54:13 to match the encode MPEG 2 file.
Now i am gonna encode the .wav file to AC3.
Then once that is done, burn to a DVD-R 8)
All sound good to you ?
Thanks
EDIT
Right i did the above and still got problems see belowgsvgaming.net sponsored by 4u-servers -
MORE PROBLEMS
Right i used GoldWave and set the audio to the lenght of the MPEG2 file.
I then convert the .wav file to AC3 using ffmpeggui.
Now the MPEG2 and AC3 files where the same time lenght.
I used TMPGEnc DVD Author to make the DVD using both the MPEG2 file and AC3 sound.
Then bruned it to a DVD-R
Movie seemed fine for the first 30 minutes then the audio went out of sync
Why is it doing this
Both audio and video files where the same lenght
