  1. I've encoded an 640x480 quicktime movie using the default setting for SVCD using TMPGenc and burnt an SVCD with Nero.

When I play it back on my television through my DVD player the TV flickers just like a computer monitor set too low a resolution.

    Any suggestions?

  2. Did the original QuickTime movie have the same framerate as the SVCD template in TMPGEnc (29.97fps)?
Was the QuickTime video interlaced? If so maybe the field order was reversed. Try changing the field order setting when you encode in TMPGEnc.
Does your DVD player normally support SVCD and have you played other SVCDs from Nero on it before?

  3. Hi JHerbert, thanks for your reply. I have two questions for you, 1/ Where is the field order setting in TMPGEnc and 2/ I'm using QickTime Player version 5.0.2. trying to view the frame rate in /WINDOW/SHOW MOVIE INFO.

It only shows 1 frame per second as a frame rate. I've tried other .mov files and they show up correctly.

It's a Virtual Training Company quicktime movie file (online training company). I can burn it perfectly in VCD format (352x28 but exceeding this resolution presents me with problems.

    Any further suggestions?

  4. Field order is under Advanced tab in TMPGEnc. Check out the guide here:

Also you could try exporting the movie as an AVI from QuickTime instead of a MOV. I never use MOV with TMPGEnc and I have heard it is sometimes buggy.
