I have a two part question. First, I have a piece of Piodata 8X DVD-R which identifies as TYG02 and I feel certain it is not Taiyo Yuden, as their IDs seem to be "Yuden". Any idea what this is, also quality, and any ideas where to find a listing of what codes lead to what companies?
Thanks.

Still a few bugs in the system...

No, I think that is legit. TY is the id for Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs.
Yuden is for their newer DVD+R media. I have read a lot of reports of the PIOdata 8x DVD-R being Taiyo Yuden. Also, these discs are not cheap so I dont doubt they are not Taiyo Yuden.
As for your second question!! This is THE place to look for that. No other site on the internet has a database that can match Dvdrhelp's. Just click on DVD MEDIA tab on your left.
<------------
Search by brand, Manufactuer's Id, Speed, Media code, What you may.

www.nomorecoasters.com is a good place to start.
Then make your way over here to the MEDIA reports.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Piodata OEM'd Taiyo Yuden for 8x media.
Their 4x is still Lead Data.
The 8x TY from PioData won't last long. LeadData, CMC, and other great media OEMs are getting reading to release their 8x DVD-R media.
Maxell and MCC are already available in parts of Asia.
Also coming to a store near you is Ritek's BRANDED line of Ridata products. Including memory, media, and drives. -
