  2. BAD NEWS!

I just wasted 3. The first 2 were burned at 8x and won't play correctly. The 3rd I tried at 4x and it also won't play correctly.

Any suggestions? I'm using Nero 6 with the most recent updates and a Pioneer 107D with version 1.10 hacked firmware. Both titles I tried burned properly to RW disks, so I know they were ripped properly. I hope I didn't just waste nearly $30....

JohhnyCNote, I'd say look at the burner for this one. 8x is bad idea. Those are 4x discs. The burner is giving bad data, maybe not reading the -R blanks right. Good luck. Again, look at burner here.

  6. Thanks for the advice! I upgraded the firmware to the non-hacked v 1.12 and it finally worked. I'm tempted to stick with the official versions from now on. The benefits aren't all that great. Even at 8x, it's not that huge a difference in time overall. I can wait 20 minutes to burn a disk. I also read elsewhere that the blue-ray drives are a way off, so I'll most likely get a dual-layer between now and then, which will also be faster.

The bottom line is I can wait. I'd rather take a little longer to get a decent result than try to rush it and waste disks. Once they get as cheap as blank CD's, then maybe I'll be more willing to take chances on coasters....
