Hmm...maybe it was just the schools I went to then.
We talked about Civil, Korean (very little), Persian Gulf, Mexican, WWII, a little of WWI, and Revolutionary (at nausea).
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

    Indolikaa,

Manchuria, Rape of Nanking, Burma, Korea and the brothels the Japanese ran for their troops, what else?

It's a seriously imperfect world. We live by killing.

I just read an interview with one of the Berrigans, the priest, who said the main qualification to be President was to have the capacity to kill vast numbers of people.

He also said GW has had plenty of practice at that running a slaughterthouse in Texas, something of which many of our Texan friends applaud him for. "We ain't skeered to kill our prisoners, like y'all are."

As I said above, let God sort 'em out, DNA and railroading be damned.

"Uncle Joe" Stalin was our friend for a while, too, even though he killed some 25 million various brands of Russians.

We're friends with Viet Nam, now, I do believe "Most Favored Nation" trading status. They have something we want, look the other way.

275 million people, they could afford to send 250 million of us to die, still enough to give them the luxuries they need, and are accustomed to, and if not as good as what they have now, they will still be the first to the trough.

Lucifer's Hammer, by Niven and Pournelle will give you a good picture of what the world would be like after 90 % of humankind was wiped out. Shit floats, and the most ruthless will always rise to the top.

Kinda like our anti gunners, who hire body guards or have permits to carry in jurisdictions where you simply cannot get permits, the Rosie O'Donnells manage. "But my kids are more important than your kids."

As an aside, I kinda liked where Rosie said she was going to appear in court to show support for Martha Stewart, because celebtities have to stick together, and once the jurors see she's on Martha's side, they'd surely acquit.

Martha is, supposedly going to get a 10 to 18 month sentence to one of the luxury pens.

Way to go Rosie. You might have just given her entree to the bull dyke role.

Back to Viet Nam, we don't like to dwell on getting whipped by a buncha black pajama clad "gooks", pardon my language.

We don't like to dwell on getting 241 Marines bombed in their barracks, with the guards on post without live ammo, because "You might cause an incident." So we name an aircraft carrier after the man on watch at the time, even before he dies. At least Adm. Rickover said he would not allow a ship to be named after him while he was alive, as that was an improper thing to do.

Our present war has been over for almost a year now, and we have soldiers getting killed daily, 6 times as many getting mangled, and our CinC says he doesn't want any pictures of body bags coming into Dover, just as his Dad did in Gulf War 1.

The Spanish want their troops out, now, and just possibly it is because they DO televise the dead coming home.

Ah, well, as long as it's not on TV, it isn't really happening. But the Draft is still there, and all you good boys have surely signed up, haven't you? With the tightened borders, you may not have the option of going to Canada, this time around.

    Cheers,

    George

I'm sorry to post a second time, but we DID play by rules.

And, how many games have you watched where you bitched that the refs were one sided, your team got screwed?

Jesus H Christ, boys and girls, there have been rules to warfare since time immemorial.

In the Middle Ages, they tried to get the longbow declared as outlawed because it could pick off the gentry, the knights, at unreasonable ranges, they tried to outlaw the crossbow, because it could penetrate the tin sutrs the knights wore,. they tried to control the length an weight of swords, etc. ad infinitum.

Even today, we outlaw bullets with an exposed lead tip, must be solid copper jacketed, because an expanding bullet causes a worse wound than a solid copper jacketed bullet does. In WWII, to be in possession of an exposed lead buillet, an expanding bullet, meant you were in violation of the Geneva Accords, you could be executed on the spot.

You guys are such experts on video, you have no idea wherefore you speak on most any other subject.. Should I refer again to you watch too many Tarantino movies?

    Cheers,

    George

  5. My favourite part of the Geneva convention has to be the part that makes it illegal to shoot paratroopers until they touch the ground.

I bet that would last a full 5 seconds in a proper war.

What does the U.N have in common with Arafat?

Condemn all of the bad that happens and do NOTHING to try to stop it.

This one I'm not sure about, but are the paras allowed to shoot down?

Seems a bit one sided if they are.

    Cheers,

    George

Not sure, we were only looking at that paragraph of the Geneva convention in class, not the whole thing.
