    Hi my question is:

    an avi file (csi chapter) and subtitles file (srt).. i would like to create a new file with the subs in it and the format must be compatible for my ipod touch & ps3...is that possible? could u explain me how to.. i've been trying @ ffmpegX but no success,,, any idea? pls help..

    As far as I know, the iPod doesn't allow for a 'separate' subtitle track, so you should 'burn' the subtitles onto the video, making them permanent.
    Unfortunately, this subtitle burning is not a feature for encoding for iPods.

    So the only way I would know how to do this, is in two encodings. Once using a mencoder preset to burn the subs, and another encoding to convert for the iPod.
