MKM has developed a new AZO dye which supports 1-16x speed writing to satisfy the continuous consumer demands for higher recording speeds.Discs with this new dye can be used for recording at speeds between 1x and 16x.
As an optical disc manufacturer, MKM was able to fully utilize it's experience and technology for developing organic dye material for recordable optical discs.
The AZO dye enables precision element design, which results in excellent thermal and optical propertied and maximized the structure to be compatible with high-speed recording, which gave the discs a wider power margin and greater sensitivity.
By designing the dye for high sensitivity to support high-speed recording, MKM controlled the heat interference between recording marks and reduced the degradation of recording marks. This minimized jitter and enabled superior recording characteristics across the entire range of available recording speeds, from 1x through 16x. 16x DVD drives are expected in the market around Q3 this year. Thus, MKM continues to meet the needs of the consumer by developing and manufacturing superior optical media products.
