  1. Okay, I'm trying to figure out which is the leading standard + or -.

I'm seeing equal numbers of disks around in stores, so that isn't giving me any help.

What, in your opinions, will be the dominant standard in the next few years.

  2. If you are trying to figure out which burner to buy, get a dual format one. I have a DVD+R and the discs are more expensive. I want to start printing on DVD's, but the only reliable source of printables I can find that aren't Optodisc are 8x Ritek DVD+R's at newegg.com for $67 for 50. DVD-R's are about $50 for 50.

Go for - R`S disc`s they are more compatable with all the older dvdplayers. Also they will always be cheaper than +r`s.But if you have the cash to buy dual format buy one.So if your local shop does run out of the the cheaper media you can still use the other at extra cost.
If you follow the link there`s the proof.

  4. this will never be over....
I have a + only burner, NEC, and I do bitsetting....so, the + dvd's actually are DVD-ROM which is the MOST compatible format ever....and this is impossible for - format
about the price......forget, it's the same, there is always somthing in "sale" and the + and - are the same price.
not to mention that the + ones are better manufactured.....the quality is better.
in the end....only god knows.....do what you want.

Your asking the absolute worst possible question on this board, heh.

Everyone has their own opinion on which is better/popular.

The answer now-adays is that "it doesn't matter". With the introduction of dual format burners, both formats are here to stay.

And thats actually better for us consumers. Two products = competition, which means lower prices all around.

Buy a dual format writer, and then you have the luxury of getting whichever format is currently on sale

The +/- war died with Dual Format burners. The next battle will be for Larger Size Discs (eg. Blu-ray etc)
