  1. I want to convert from mpeg2, which is what my card captures in, to .avi so I can edit it. Whenever I try in virtual dub I lose frames so I was wondering if anybody knows another way to do it where I won't lose frames. Thank you!

Capturing to mpeg-2 isn't a good idea if you plan to do editing. Furthermore, converting to avi just to do editing is even less of a good idea. Are you sure you can't capture to DV AVI? If not then use an editing program that can accept mpeg-2 such as Ulead Video Studio. Another option would be Womble MPEG2 VCR. Womble can make cuts with no re-encoding and can also add simple transitions. Give it a try because every time you convert to another format you will lose video quality.

To edit an MPEG-2 capture file ... where usually only simple "cut" edits are needed ... you can use TMPGEnc DVD Author or Womble MPEG-2 VCR although that program is rather expensive so if you ask me you are better off using TMPGEnc DVD Author.

If you need to do extensive editing you can use DVD2AVI to convert it to a D2V project file or to an uncompressed AVI but that takes up HUGE amounts of space.

  5. What if all I wanna do is take out a watermark, should I convert to avi or leave it in mpeg2 and if you think I should leave it in mpeg2 what program could I use to remove the watermark?

And by the way I would like to thank Fulcilives for answering my posts, because he has done so on more then one occasion

Don't know nothing about getting rid of a watermark although I think there is a logo removal filter in vdub but I never played around with it myself.

Me personally, I'd scrap the card you've got and get one that can capture mpeg and avi. I got mine on eBay for 20 bucks.
