I captured about 150 video clips from old VHS and 8mm sources, so that my family can have DVD's of the old home movies. They're all currently in DV-AVI format (dvsd, araw codecs).

I want to basically convert them all to MPEG2 (or whatever is the best DVD format), provide my family the list and let them order their own custom DVD's from me containing whatever clips they want.

So, what's the best way to batch convert all of the files at once? I'm not that picky on fixing all the files' old video artifact flaws (some of these are 30 year old VHS so they're not that great quality of course).

    Thanks!

Here is a guide to HCbatchGUI. I even included a flash video on that page to show how to use the program.

But if the guide doesn't help you figure out how to use it you might also consider avstodvd. It also uses the same encoder. Of course it creates a full working dvd and not the basic mpeg files.

If you have questions about hcbatchgui let me know and I'll be glad to help.
