audio sync problem when capturing divX with winfast 2000 xp

Im having problems capturing DivX with a winfast 2000 xp expert
the audio is out of sync with video i've tried capturing with different audio codecs but still the same. help I really want to start capturing to divx!!!

Did you try first capturing to plain .avi, then encoding to divx?

I'm not sure there is a processor fast enough to do realtime captures of xvid/divx and compressed audio - you must be dropping frames like mad. Capture the audio as pcm - do any audio compression afterwards. Do not try to capture as mp3. Your PC will not keep up with it. Also keep your framesize fairly low (640x480 absolute max). VirtualVcr is about the best I've come across for this.

This is from my own personal experience so I expect someone is going to prove me wrong!

nah i didn't try capturing to avi first then rencoding to divX cos a half hour of uncompressed avi is 10GB and i gotta free up some space before i can do that wat program do you use to rencode and does it take long?

and it doesn't change anything capturing to a different partion.

xvid/divx and compressed audio

...ahem... XviD and DivX are video codecs, not audio codecs. That said, it's, like everyone say, not possible to do realtime DivX video encoding, specially if you're using mp3 audio if yopu don't own a real über system - You're effectively telling your system to DivX encode video in real time AND encoding audio to MP3 in real time simultaneously. Hell, my PIV1700 doesn't do only mp3 encoding much faster than real time! (slightly exaggerated...)

I know this! I never suggested they were audio codecs - read it again.

And it is possible to do realtime divx/xvid capturing - just not with compressed audio as well.

Xvid is better to capture with than divx which i found dropped too many frames,just had to tweak xvid a bit plus use pcm audio.

VirtualDub comes to mind... Or DrDivX, sounds like it should work too...
