    Hi everyone,
Just got the avermedia ezmaker pci capture
    card.Why?Because that's all I could afford and
it was recommended as EASY,NOT!! I have been.
reading the capturing forum for 2 hrs. and to say I"m
confused would be a major understatement.
!) all I want to do is transfer my vhs movies
to my hard drive and burn it to a single dvd.
    No menues,no chapters,nothing fancy.
    Just a straight copy.
    2) When I tried to use the avermedia I couldn't
get a picture to show on the screen. There also was
no sound so I cancelled the capture because I
didn't know what was going on.When I did this
a window popped up saying that the capture was
successful. ( just the few min.that I did capture.)
    3) Can someone please tell me where on the computer
I go to find the bitrate setting and how to change
    them if it's necessary.
    4) Please be patient as I have not even reached
the level of a newbie yet and therefore your
help will have to be in VERY SIMPLE TERMS.
    5) Because of lots of reading on these forums
last year and all the help that was offered,
I was able to burn dvd's.Thank you again to those
    that helped me then.

  2. Hmm did you install the drivers for the capture card? Also I assume you're using the NeoDVD software that came with the card so you need to open the capture program then select the Aver card as the capture source and also you will need to select your sound card as the source for the audio capture. Also for the audio make sure in the windows sound setup that you have the correct input on your sound card active and the audio plugged into the card.

  4. After you select the Aver card you also need to select the input connector for the video in, s-video or composite (button to the right of the selected capture card window). A similar action is required for the audio input.

    Hi,I'm back,
I uninstalled avermedia and the software
and then re-installed .Checked the system out
and my computer says that the avermedia is working properly.
BUT I still get no picture or sound.
I have checked all my connections to see if they
    are in securely no problem.
Can someone please suggest what might be causing the problem?
My vcr is only three weeks old so I don't think that
    is the problem.
I have hooked the cables ( A&V) up to the front
    of it.
I am really stuck as to what to do!!!
    Thank you for any help

  6. If you hooked the cables up to the front of the vcr, then you may have hooked into the input ports. The back of the vcr should contain ports labelled as output. You will need the output of the vcr to go to the avermedia card. Sorry if I misunderstood what you are doing.

I found the problem!!! YAHOO !!!!
    As I said,my vcr is new.I didn't realize
that the audio & video on the front
of the set were INPUT modes and not
    output.Son of a b*tch!!!!
But wait it gets better.I start the
program up and I see a picture and
have sound and then a window pops
up saying that an error has occurred
and the software company is shutting
down the program. They said sorry for
    any incinvenience and anything that
I had copied would be lost.
Does anyone get the feeling that I wasn't
meant to capture movies?? %%#@ !!!!
Well at least I did solve my problem.

  8. I think the software that comes with the card is a watered down version of NeoDVD. I had the same setup and had to buy the full version or NeoDVD Plus then I was able to make some good transfers of VHS tapes to DVDR. Now I just record VHS directly to DVDR with a DVD recorder.

    Hi Bob W,
    The Sony recorder costs approx.
$1000. in CDN. Much too much for
me.I prefer all things to be Sony
because I have always had no
    trouble from them.
