  1. Okay - I'm a newbie (that's the first step in getting help). I've got a number of instructional video tapes that I would like to capture a burn to a cd. They are anywherre from 60 minutes to 90 minutes long. I have a number of video editing programs which include uleade videostudio, adobe, mgi video wave and microsoft movie maker. I can capture video from my vcr - but am not sure what format to save in so that I can fit an entire tape onto one cd.

I've been going crazy surfing the web for some direction and found this site. It looks great. Hope you can help me.

    dfeder,

Welcome on board. This is really a great site.
First of all, check out the "HOW TO" section on the menu to the left of the screen.

You have a lot of reading ahead of you. A quick and useless answer to your question is: you can capture to AVI and then process the image into an mpeg stream (which will then be "formatted" into a vcd or svcd) or capture directly into the mpeg format. Capturing directly into mpeg usually give really poor results....

Make sure to read the forum. You can click on SEARCH on the top of this screen and try to find people who had questions similar to yours and got answers...

    best of luck.

  3. dfeder,

These questions may be able to help me. Sorry to use your topic for my problem, see topic "View TV on laptop'. But, may be you have not pass this stage.

Are you able to see the vcr movie on your pc, assuming your are using a pc. If you can see it, can you make it a full screen?

    Thans,
