I want to convert the files extracted rom my DVD to something I can work with in Final Cut Pro or iMovie. I just want to cut a scene out of the movie then reburn it to a DVD, so I want to keep all the quality. what program should I use? Thanks.

I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

You know what's better? Use "Cinematize."

What makes that one worth the extra $25?

  8. I'm looking to convert DivX to something that Final Cut can handle, without loss os quality, and ideas?

  9. You can export DivX from QuickTime to DV and edit it in FinalCut in real time...

If you have the DivX codec installed for QT then you can directly import DivX material into FCP4. It will have to be rendered before you can play it on the timeline tho. And there will be some loss of quality, no way around that.

If you want to keep all of the quality you will want to edit it in it's current Mpeg 2 form. Converting it to another format will always degrade the quality.

If you just want to cut a scene out of a DVD movie use YADE. It allows you to extract from the DVD only what you want (within 1/2 sec) and it will save it in a VOB file. This can then be included in the building of a new DVD, without ever converting the video.
