  1. I've just ordered/installed TDA and the AC-3 plug-in. According to the installation instructions when I've installed AC-3 there will be a note about that in the "Options" area of TDA. Except it's not there.

Anyone have any idea how I'm supposed to get the plug-in installed?

    Thanks.

Just install it the same as anything else, either in the default install location or change it to where you want it to be installed

    That's it .........

Make sure TMPGenc DVD Author is installed already or install it before the AC-3 plugin, and TMPGenc DVD Author will now recognise AC-3 audio

No settings to change, no need to tell it where to look, its automatic

If you have it installedthe plug-in then AC-3 audio will now work, otherwise you'll just get no audio, but TMPGenc DVD Author will still function

  3. I also have a question :

I know that you can convert the WAV to AC3 via the "ugly" player in the plugin dir, but how or what command line to encode AC3 in TMPGENC plus ?

Right now I have to use Vdub to extract audio file to WAV then convert to AC3 and then load to DVD LAB which I like much better than TDA ?

    Thanks

  4. Apparently I was not clear enough in my initial question.

I've already run the installation for the plug-in. But when I check the Options>About TDA portion of the program there is nothing stating that it is installed as indicated in the install instructions.

Has anyone else had this happen when they install and has it affected the use of the plug-in?

Also, does the plug-in just automaticly convert the audio to AC-3 or do I have to do anything?

It doesn't sound like it is actually installed. I have it and in the "About" portion there is a bar at the bottom of the box that has a big AC3 and says something like it is installed and functioning....

Anyway, you might have to uninstall and re-install.

BTW: I haven't used it yet so I don't know how it works but there is an option to have it automatically convert MP2 audio to AC3.

Does anyone know if this makes a fully complaint AC-3 audio file, unlike what BeSweet did ?

    Thanks,

  7. I've just uninstalled it and re-installed it...

    Nothing.

Hopefully the Pegasys e-mail support will be able to help me.

Not so sure about 100% compliant since I don't have a Pioneer DVD player BUT the DVD with the AC3 file play fine on my Samsung player which has problem with Besweet file . Hope some one with a Pioneer DVD player can verify this , if it is true 100% then for $29.00 , it is an excellent deal for an AC3 converter . Other package such as Softencode can cost at least several hundred more - if available .

The funny thing is TMPGenc folk never advertise the fact that you can easily encode the whole regular CD into AC3 thu their 'ugly' player nor you can batch encode WAV files into AC3 !!! Someone at TMPGenc sales dept has been sleeping at the wheel .

  9. Thanks for the reply, so looks like its got a good chance of being compliant if your Samsung likes them. Your right, the price is right as well.

Their specs indicate it can do WAV to AC-3 standalone (just one simple line, no big song and dance was made of it though ), thats what attracted me to it as I currently use AC3Enc that comes with Scenarist (similar to SoftEncode) but it so darn slow ! TDA AC3 does it in seconds, not minutes.

  10. Update:

I guess I needed to download and install an updated version of TDA in order for the plug-in to be recognized.

    Thanks for your help everyone.

yes, you do need at least 1.5 to use the AC3. Also, if u got the 1.06 you will be able to convert LPCM as well as mp2

  12. Just incase anyone might still be confused as to where the AC3 option is:

When you import the video files into track one make sure you go to the settings button of each file and check the little box that says reencode to track yadda yadda...

Then go to the settings button of the track itself and there you will be able to change the audio settings from PCM, AC3, or MP2

  13. I would say yes. Several DVD-lab users that own picky Pioneer players have stated the AC3 output from the plugin works fine.

Also, could the plug-in reference dolby-digital trademarks and not be compliant? Seems like DD is very, very stringent about that.

For $29US, that "ugly" player is a beauty queen at 2AM...

I also would be interested if a command line is available versus the drag'n drop interface.....
