  1. I have a strange problem that I can't find any help on. Occasionally when I capture from WinDVR, when I play back the captured file about 4-5 minutes into it the audio starts doing something wierd. I can only describe it as a warble or repetition of 1/2 sec before mixed in with the current audio.

I don't think this is the same thing as what is being discussed at tv-cards.com. My problem comes and goes, like maybe every 10th capture, and it's never the entire audio track of the file. It always starts about 5 minutes into the capture.

There was a time not that long ago when I used a freeware capture app called "MsDVR 2000" or something like that, and I was using it under Win98SE. I had the same problem with one capture using that program.

I'm totally lost on this one, any comments would be appreciated. My main concern is that I can never be 100% sure that a scheduled capture is going to be okay. Thanks.

  2. doesn't sound like a latency problem or a sound device problem if it works fine 9-10 times. Sounds more like a fragmented problem or tired/heated CPU/drive problem.

I'm not sure if you are using a separate hard drive for your capture or at least a separate partition but if not, depending on the OS you're using (XP has a lot of services running stock) it's best to defrag, shut down the machine for a few minutes and restart and see if the problem persists if you do that every time.

IMO, if you are running xp, tweak your system so you have no unnessecary services running, unplug your ethernet connection and see how it goes. And large fast hard drives get hot and tired. You may need some extra fans. I have to defrag my drive everytime I burn a DVD. Even when Windows says it doesn't need it. that's the only way I can assure a good burn.

  3. Thanks for the response. I'm running Win 2000 and I capture to a seperate drive from the system. I have tweaked the OS and don't have very much running in the background.

I'm curious why you have to defrag everytime you burn a DVD?!?! Are you trying to burn at 16x or something? I burn DVD's at 8x all the time and never defragged for about 10 months. I just partitions specifically for video and audio.

I have lots of fans and even thermostats for both my hard drives and CPU. I know this isn't an easy one to figure out, I was hoping that someone else might have this problem but from researching on Google it doesn't look like it.
