  1. I'd like to hear opinions regarding who makes the best printable DVDR, either - or +.

I have a Sony DRU500A which of course allows me to use either media type, and an Epson 960 printer. So far I have tried two types of media, Optodisc 2.4X DVD+R and Ritek G04 4X DVD-R.

The Optodisc media has a very good printable surface that took ink well and remained bright and sharp after the ink dried. Unfortunately the media was a nightmare since it would not work AT ALL with InstantCopy 7 or 8 that I was using at the time. It did work just fine with Nero, and since upgrading to Nero 6 I use Recode for these discs.

The Ritek discs have been a dream to burn, but I don't like the printable surface as much. Everything I print on them is a little fuzzy, and has a translucent look.

There are other brands out there, I would love something that combines the excellent Optodisc surface with Ritek's burn reliability. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts or opinions.

Use a 900 here with Ritek discs and the only time i have a problem with fuzzy printing on Ritek disks is when i have a poor quality pic (usually from covers.cc). So long as they are good quality covers (I usually scan @ 300dpi) the covers look just as good as the originals.
What settings do you use for printing to disk to much ink can cause a fuzzy effect as well...
    Not bothered by small problems...

Of the 4 brands of DVD-r I have tested, the Ritek are slightly less sharp than the Dupez that I liked best. But they were not so bad that I wouldn't recommend those disks. The Samsung (Beall) were the worst in my testing. And as always, your mileage may vary. My comments can be found in the "True inkjet printables" thread in the media forum.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?
