or it could be my settings..(have to go to control panel, adjust display settings etc)...
any suggestion? -
No, the monitor has no effect on the video capture. If the final product plays on your TV, it's probably just a problem with your monitor. You can try adjusting it through your control panel.

thanks redwud..atleast i can rule out the moniter theory out.
most recording are ok..but there are few..where the picture when captured scrambles/colour changes/flickers.....i even bought new gold scart connecters...but that has no affect. -
Unfortunately, if your monitor is having problems, there's not a lot you can do. Check the plugs and make sure no pins are bent and the connection is secure. If you can borrow another monitor, you can try that. Find out which video card you have and make sure you have the latest drivers. Really, if your video plays well enough on your TV, it is probably just the monitor. On this site it helps to fill out your computer profile also.

Thanks Redwudz...i'll borrow another moniter & see that makes any difference...../but like u..my susipicion is...that might be not the case.
i also have an old haupagge tv card..i might put that back in...and use that instead of my ati wondercard.
or it could be the settings from my control panel.
I think my ati tv card..is too good for its own good..and too sensitive on the recordings....On my tv..the movie plays fine...but on pc...its flickers..& scrambled picture.
I have adjusted my profile of my computer specs. -
If you have selected the right drivers, profile and refresh rate for your monitor then the next thing is to check the connector.
My older 14" monitor has a great picture but the connector had a loose pin that would push in when I tried to connect to the video card. The picture would be fine but then go all weird and scrambly when it would lose contact. Mine wasn't a molded plug but it had a metal cap so I opened it used needlenose pliers to pull the pin back in line and then tightly taped the connector so the pins could not go back in. That solved the problem. My daughter is using that monitor now an it still works fine.
You could also check that the video card is properly seated and that the hold down screw is tightened down properly.
