I want to convert my old analog camcorder movies onto the computer, then burn them onto DVD+R's or SVCD's. I am currently looking for a cheaper card for it. Quality is not great on the Camcorder (it is really old) so would the Asus TV FM Card be fine for it? I 've heard their software is POS, could I download different capture software?
Oh yea, and I'd prefer a PC capture card over a standalone DVD recorder, since I have an 8x DVD+R drive for my PC

Yes - I have both the Asus card and the Leadtek card and the Asus card more consistently gives a good image. Both work well with a good clean input signal. The Asus card software is pretty useless for just about anything that I am interested in doing, but you can easily use virtualvcr to capture with the card.
Note - even though some users here have reported recieving Cyberlink PowerVCR software the retail box I ordered from newegg.com did not come with it. The statement on the company's website that it would arrive with that software is simply incorrect. The trialware downloaded from Cyberlink also does not seem to know how to interact with the tuner on the card, but can recieve TV if another application has set the channel. -
Hey thanks, I didn't think anyone was going to reply. I could also receive video through Virtualdub right? Like using virtualvcr to pick the channel, then capture with VD? Or would it be better if I used VirtualVCR...
BTW- I went with the PC Chips Tuner. Everyone really seemed to like it in the reviews on NewEgg. However, since its a relatively new card, I probably need to hope its good. I will write a review here after a few days of using it. It has a Phillips tuner, so I pretty much trust it. Also, one guy said "If you are looking for a capture card to do your camcorder home transfers via your home computer (composite or S video), this is the card. Bang for the buck, you can not beat it." That basically sold me.
