  1. Having a few problems, awaiting arrival of my burner from Amazon.co.uk Sony 500ak 4x DVD -+R 8mb buffer, for the last seven days for which I was paying the grand sum of # 125.00 (POUNDS) (even though I has stipulated the 24hr delivery) . No phone calls no delivery, very poor service. I have now cancelled I now need a burner asap, the good lady thinks they all cost about this amount so that’s what I’ve got to spend. Without researching every other burner in the land I would be interested what the forum members have to say on the subject. I know that sometimes it is just a matter of personal choice but there are those which are better than others.

Good delivery experiences and URL’S would be appreciated..

( I have a Sony DAV SC 5 in the living room)

WOW, prices for dvd burners seem to be dropping pretty fast. i remember paying £280 for my sony dru500a in january 2003. now you can get tem for around £120.

some burners are even as low as £70.

When dual layer burners come out, im gonna wait a year and two for prices to fall before I buy one.

Think u can hold yer breath for 4 years? If they even come out with those...it'll be 2 years after that before anyone who isn't a millionaire can afford one.

More realistically, the blue laser is the one I'm waiting on.

I imagine the duel layer will be about $250 upon release. Sony already mentioned they will sell media for $2.99. I really don't think the technology is all to different than what is out already. AT CES, Pioneer burned a duel layer on a AO6 with just a simple firmware update. As for the Blue Laser, we will see but technology is moving real quick. CD's are .19c a peace now, dvds will be just as cheap. Big deal that dvd's store 6-7x as much as a cd, they cost almost the same to make them...
