I am trying to make an AVI file from a DVD of a party, but there is no sound coming through at all when i press "Play" at the top. Also the app does not recognise the audio tracks automatically.

I know that there is sound because when i open the dvd in VLC, it plays fine!

Has anyone elso had this odd problem?

    thanks guys!

  2. Is your source VOB or VIDEO_TS? Which format is the audio track?

  3. I have the same problem. I'm using a VOB file and whatever I try to convert with, I end up with no sound when I try and play with QT.

I am also having this problem. it does a great job converting the video but there is no audio. When I check the info in quicktime it seems there was no audio track created. I'm converting .vob to Avi using MP4 (.AVI) mencoder
Any Ideas. Original vob has a stereo AC3 audio track at 48Khz

  5. I managed to get the audio to convert along with the video, but when I burned it to a VCD, the audio was delayed about half a second so it was slightly off. How do I correct this?

    Thank you

  6. I'm suffering the same problem. I've only tried it using the Quick Preset: DivX (libavc) to convert a VIDEO_TS folder. I did try a .vob file as well but the same problem resulted.

Major, can you fix this problem or at least tell us what we're doing wrong?

  7. Post or email the process output to major4@mac.com. Without the process output, it's difficult to decide which was the source of your problem.

  8. Ladies and Gentlemen, I believe I have found the solution!

After Major's last post, I tried to recreate the problem, but found I could encode my movie with sound without problems. Then I retraced my footsteps and discovered what I had changed.

When you encode a VIDEO_TS folder, it must be named VIDEO_TS otherwise FFmpegX doesn't recognise the audio tracks. Take a look under the audio tab and then at the audio track. If your folder isn't labelled VIDEO_TS, you will find it says "0" with other numbers up to 9 under the drop down menu.

What you should see is something like "ac3 (5.1) language: en". You will only see this if your folder is labelled VIDEO_TS. Give it a try!

I can't explain why I couldn't encode a .vob file's sound before as I can now (without changing its file name). I will let you know Major if it happens again and I'll be sure to include the process output.

Thanks for such a blinding piece of software.

    Regards,
    iUser
