  1. I have heard that Cinema Craft is a bit better than TMPgenc when it comes to blockiness in SVCD.
Is it so much better that it is any point changing encoder?

With Tmpgenc you can do all in one, but in CCE you have to use another program for resizing and pulldown.

Is it actually worth changing, is it that much better?

    Thanks

  2. TMPGEnc is best I believe for the main reason you got alot more options to play around with and it's more user friendly.
CinemaCraft is very hard to configure and takes alot of trials to get to that perfect quality everyone keeps claiming it has, and at the end, each person sees quality diffrently.

For me, it's NOT worth it, for others who got used to it's useless interface, it's the best program that exist, and you ?

  3. I agree, was up all night to test cinema craft, its to much work and fuzz.
Think I'll stick to tmpgenc (as long as you live in the future)

... "up all night"? Oh please! It took me all of two weeks to get CCE SP working just right. But YES it is MUCH superior to tmpgenc. My SVCDs of my Voyager VHS tapes actually LOOK BETTER than the original (when comparing VHS to TV output versus SVCD to TV output).

CCE SP is much better. But just as with everything else in making VCDs/SVCDs, you have to either have PATIENCE or settle for low quality. Once you find the right parameters for CCE, you can use them over and over, itīs a very smooth process...

Did I mention that CCE is A LOT faster than tmpgenc?

    Anyway, best of luck.

  5. ok Ebaldino

What is the right setting, which works all over again, I guess its just to find them, and then stick to them.

You have found them, Well, tell me, please.

and do you use virtual dub for resizing, and what to get the correct frame rate?

  6. My DVD player can take XSVCD, so I dont have to resize, but even if the original divx file is pal 25 fps, it seems like CCE dont make it that way.

Is there a program which can convert a finished MPG SVCD file to 25 fps?

  7. EBaldino, Quality is in the Eye of the Beholder, what seems like great quality for you, can be considered as state of the art crap for someone else.

For me, I watch all my movies on TV using a DVD Player (which is why I never bother with DivX) and I have not seen such a quality improvment even between VCD and SVCD, not to mention between SVCD's encoded using various programs (unless it's LSX, that sucks big time!).
