  1. First I'd like to thank all mates who are sharing their knowledge and experience. All I know, I own to this site and to some links in it.

So I learnt several methods teaching to concert/encode/author video data using free tools.

To author a DVD I find IfoEdit is so powerful, that I hardly imagine people buying packages costing thounsands. Unless they are true professionals.

Because IfoEdit accepts selectable subtitles, when you use it in combination with DVD-lab, you are also able to produce DVD like profesionals.

My concern now is that I heard a few months ago ( or did I read somewhere?) IfoEdit wouldn't be updated anymore. If this becomes true, what alternatives should we have?

It's been this way ever since Derrow went to 1-2-3 (?) software. Well over a year.

  3. I couldn't imagine it was so ong time ago.

As IfoEdit sometimes refuses to be 100% DVD compliant, which similar free/trial tool is suggested?

it supports most dvd author features but it is a command line tool...a basic gui exists but it does only support the basic features so far.

Hi Baldrick, thanks for your attention.
But what about subtitles support? I allways need to author with selectable subtitles, and dvdauthor 0.6 hasn't this feature yet, I'm afraid.

yes, it supports selectable subtitles and it can also make subtitles directly from srt,sub,ssa... text subtitles. But the gui doesn't support it yet so you have fix it manually using xml and that isn't so easy.

  7. I guess that with my poor background it will be an impossible mission, but I will try. Believe me, I will.
    Thanks
