  1. I picked up a used TBC-1000 off of EBAY. It looks brand new (as was what the auction said it would) but I don't know how to tell if it's working right. I played back a 22 year old tape .... it definately removed some jitter and the tape overall looks better, but it's still not what I'd call great. I'm playing it in a crap cheapo vcr (I have a JVC HRS-9800 on they way) and I may be getting the best I can (not even a tracking adjustment on this VCR) .... all I really want is a way of telling that it's doing what it shoud, I should keep it, and leave good feedback for the guy. Any suggestions?

    Thanks .... MACKY

I have a DataVideo TBC that I use to provide continuous sync to my capture card so that my audio and video remain in sync. It works great for this purpose, and if the output on your TBC-1000 looks as good as the input, I think that it is safe to assume that it is working properly. However, I find that its actual time base correction capability is quite limited. I have also tried a professional (FOR-A) TBC and found it to provide better results. The best time base correction that I have found comes from the TBC built in to my JVC 7600U. Great line by line correction. Chroma noise is elimiated and edges are sharp. But it is not a full frame TBC. So I think that you will be very happy that you bought the JVC 9800, but will also want to use the TBC-1000 to prevent audio/video skew.

Don't know if it's any use and you may already have it but the instruction manual is here, pdf (www.adobe.com) format.
    Good luck

  8. Thanks Will Hay .... I did already have it .... except how to connect it, which was kinda intuitive, there really wasn't much "instruction" .... basically wire it up, plug it in, and let it do it's thing. I had never used one ... didn't know what to expect.
