Thank you for all the input when I asked whether to choose an AMD Athlon 64 or a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz processor. As some of you mentioned I checked a number of benchmarks and found that the AMD seemed to be faster for gaming while the Pentium was better for working with video. As my interest is the video side of things this is the computer that I've chosen:

    Processor: Pentium 4 3.2 GHz 512K 800FSB
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-81K1100
Memory: OCZ 1024MB PC3200 Premier Series Dual Channel DDR Kit
    ...............(2 x 512MB) x 2 for a total of 2 GB
    Case: Super X-Alien w/ 500W P/S
Hard Drives: Maxtor 160GB DiamondMax Plus 9 Serial ATA
...................Maxtor 250GB MaXLine Plus II Serial ATA
DVD R/RW: LG Super Multi DVD Writer 8x DVD+/-RW

And a few other little goodies. Just enough to make sure I won't sleep for a week while I'm waiting to go pick it up at Memory Express in Calgary. I'm one happy camper tonight. Thanks again for the input, everyone.
