  1. I am using NeoDVD Standard to transfer my home VHS tapes to DVD. The capture goes fine (DVD format), but I'm having a problem in the 'create' section, when I try to create chapter points, it don't seem to be accurate. For example, I have my MPG-2 file ready to work on. I view it with Windows Media Player, and note the timestamp I want to create a chapter at, say 00:16:10.12 (16 mins, 10 secs, 12 frames). I then load it into TMPGEnc for accuracy sake, and verify it is 00:16:10.12 . So finally I load it into NeoDVD, but when I move to the exact same frame I want, it's now reporting it at 00:16:44.21 . Way off. Has anyone else had this problem, or found a solution?

  2. I have a similar issue with DVD complete.
I could be wrong, but I believe chapter stops have to be at a keyframe.
You can't just pick any arbitrary frame.
That make sense to me due to the way mpeg works.
It has to be a complete frame with all the data nessisary to recrate the whole picture.
Other frames only contain the differences between that frame and the last.
If you jump to a non keyframe, you'll get a buch of garbage on the screen.

  3. Ahh ok... that does make alot of sense. I didn't even think of that. Thanks! I still don't understand why it's 20-30 seconds off though. Oh well.

  4. In DVD Complete it's only off by 1/2 second or less, + or -

20 seconds seems way too excessive for it to be the keyframes.
IIRC there's normally an I frame every 15 frames.
There must be another reason NeoDVD is moving your chapter marks.

Of course I could be completely wrong about all of this too...
