I see that my new Panasonic DMR-E80 is burning dvd-r at 1x only, anyway, so I no longer see the need to pay for 4x discs. Shop4tech (who has treated me great on ALL prior orders) is selling a brand known as 'Sonic' for .59/disc plus 10% off at the holidays, so i thought I might take a shot. Any of you guys used these before with any success? I'm looking to use them to capture TV episodes or old classic movies with the Panny.

Well, I got no responses, so I ordered a batch from shop4tech, and they came in yesterday. I put them to a test last night, and while they burned beautifully, finalized discs are mostly failing to be read by my Panasonic DMR-E80. Curiously, the appearance of the discs is fine. No real blemishes or dye inconsistencies. They are recognized perfectly in my pc-based drives.
Alas, I watch the final product on the Panny and if it doesn't regularly read the disc, it's gotta go. Just wanted you other Panny DVD Recorder owners to know that it might not be a brand to try to be thrifty with.
