  1. Can anyone recommend a CD-RW drive that recognizes the 99+ minute CD-R's. I've been trying to research it, but that feature seems to never be listed.
    Thanks!

  3. I'd recommand you the Lite-On 24x Burner, it OFFICIALY supports 99min CDR's, not many others do so officialy, and it's fast and extremly cheap, for more variety of burners, check this page:

  4. One problem that you will come across is that most software won't report a disc as being any larger than 80 minutes. So, use nero CD-Speed as it has an overburn test that will test the Disc (And the drive I suppose!). Do yourself a favour and buy proper 99 minute discs as these will work even if the software doesn't think it should! Use nero for burning as well, as it has settings for overburning.

  5. I agree with Reggie, get high quality 90/99min CD's, i've seen two brands here in Israel, one is CDLine and the other GPT, now the CDline is only identified as 80min but can overburn to 90min, but it has alot of problem with CD drives, the GPT however is detected as 92min and is readable on all CD drives.
So make sure you get a good brand, especialy if you want your movie to be playable on a regular CD drive.

  7. Thanks for the advice. The only 99+ CDR's I've seen are from Comp USA. I don't know why, but I seem to remember hearing that they are not any good. Has anyone used these?
    Thanks!

  8. I've used the COMPUSA 99min discs. I haven't had any problems with them. BTW, I'm using LG 8160b burner.
I'm able to burn at 16x on these 99min discs.

  12. yo SEFY i'm not tryin to show u out or somethin but i like to give the best deals......

also the lite on burner at newegg.com for 96 bucks is a retail version not a bare drive/oem

also they have 6 dollar shipping
compared to $15+ shipping prices at those pricewatch sites

    the oem version(not a bare drive,comes with burning software)is 93 bucks)

i think the retail version (cables, bundled software..etc) for $102 shipped is a better deal than
    a bare drive,oem for $83 + $15shipping= $98 shipped from the cheapest pricewatch site..

so for 4 dollars more at newegg.com u get the retail version with all software cables..plus manufactures warranty..

  13. I really apologise, I didn't know I was doing a competition, I just happened to see your post, and I checked PriceWatch and just said the lowest price I could find, I didn't know you were a store or anything, so again, my apologies.

heck, if you could ship to Israel in that price, i'd buy from you, sometimes it's not the lowest price that counts, it's the warranty you get for it that matters.

email me if you do shippings to Israel, cause the reason I buy through PriceWatch is cause i need International Delivery and not everyone gives that.

BTW, are the 99min cdrs readable in dvd players that are svcd compatible, ie: apex? Has anyone tested the plextor 16x10x40 with 99min discs? Sefy's chart says they write the full 99min, but the plexy 12x and 24x do not.

  16. flaamer, my chart is updated by what people tell me or information i managed to gather from the net, so if I wrote that the 16x10x40 supports 99min, a user propably told me, or it does not support fully the 99min, only upto a certain time which is longer then 90min (according to CDRInfo it supports upto 95min).

I currently got 99min CDR's, and i'll test the full length burn on a Ricoh MP7200(my friend'a) to burn and play them on my Pioneer 525 to see if they really work.

  19. I've burnt a VCD up to 98min 40sec onto a Ritech 99min CD using lates Nero on my LiteOn 24x burner. I burn at 8x and they play faultlessly on my Hiteker (Apex in the US) AD-600.

    Cheers.

  20. Thanks to all for the great advice. I installed the LiteOn 24x last night and was able to burn the 95 minute cinema classic, The Cannoball Run, on to one CD without a problem.

Well, actually, I did have a few problems as I got greedy and tried to burn at 24X and ending up making a few coasters. I slowed it down to 12x and did not have a problem.

  21. Cool, I got that movie too waiting to be burned, just don't have any good 99min CDR's so i'm trying to find some! by the way, did the movie play on your DVD Standalone without problems ?

  22. Yep, no problems on my Panasonic DVD L50 (portable). I also played it on a JVC my mom has (don't know the model). The CompUSA discs seem to be okay after all.

I have the Digital Research CD-RW drive (16x10x40) that is advertised for this week on Best Buy and CompUSA for 49.00 after rebates.

It is actually a BTC 1610IM drive and I have been burning 99 minutes CD both for standard music CD's, MP3 CDS and VCD's using the 99 minute Compusa media and Nero.

So far out of 43 99 minutes CD's I have burned I had one failure.

My Apex 500W reads them all from beginning to end without a problem.

I will add another vote for the Lite 24x. I own it and it burns 99min CDRs @ 24x just fine. In addition it has all the same features of the Plextor 24x (which is #1 in the burner business) but it's $50 less than the Plextor. =)

  25. Guys, those of you who did manage to get a 99min CDR, have you tried playing them on your DVD Standalone ? does it read the whole disc ? i'm just trying to see if the crapy 99min i got are crappy crappy, or if it's just the DVD

My Pioneer DV-333 and my Pioneer DVC-603 only reads 90min burnt CDRs. Meaning I burnt a 99min CDR up to 89:59 and it played back on my DVD player fine. If I go past that time, it won't play at all.

  27. hmmm... mine Pioneer 525 couldn't play much beyound the 90min either, is this a common problem for everyone ? cause it kinda sucks, that's the whole reason why I want the 99min CDR, what's the use if the Standalone won't play it.
