  1. I've been capturing MPEG video using Ulead's video studio 7.01 and also Sonic's MyDVD 4.0 ... but having Audio/Video sync problems with both products. Not dropping any frames, but the audio winds up about one second ahead of hte video for every hour captured (4 hour clip = 4 seconds out of sync at end).

So I downloaded Vdub 1.5.10 and installed it ... planning to give it a try. I cannot get any audio, though. It's not just a problem of not hearing the audio during the capture process ... there really is no audio when I playback the clips.

I've captured AVI video now using Video Studio 7, with no problem (and no audio sync issues, either) -- just cannot get the audio out of VDub. I tried to read all forum help, play with all the settings, etc. ... but I just cannot get it to work.
    My relevant hardware is:
    CPU: P4 2.4 GHz
MoBo: Soyo P4X400 Dragon Lite (using 1.5 Gb RAM)
Video / Capture card: ASUS AGP-V6600

I have the latest drivers for all hardware and latest VIA 4-in-1/Hyperion drivers for MoBo chipset. I have disabled the on-board sound card on the MoBo and am using instead a Soundblaster PCI card.

    Any ideas?

Go to Recording Volume levels and make sure you have Line In checked and at an acceptable level, if that is how you have sound input into your system.
    Hello.

  3. I _do_ use the line in plug on my soundcard for audio input. And I _have_ made sure the "recording control" within windows volume control has "line in" selected and also has the volume turned up. I _still_ have no audio in my captured clips.

I should say ... "have no audio in my captured clips __when using Vdub__." Using the same Recording Control settings, I get audio just fine when capturing through Video Studio or MyDVD.

As an experiment, I also tried capturing with Vdub after having set the Recording Control settings to use each and every option displayed: sterio mix, modem, aux, mic, line in, and cd audio. Clearly, some of those would have no possibility of affecting things ... but I'm out of ideas on what could be wrong.

In Virtual Dub have you tried capturing in mono and in stereo?

Do you get no sound just playing back avi through VDub, or do you have no sound when playing back through anything, e.g. Windows Media Player?

  6. No sound even when I play the clips in WMP. Sound just isn't being captured ...

I was worried this would be the case, because as I prepared to hit <capture> I brought up the Vdub volume control. It shows no sound "waves" in it, either.

I understand that some apps (like this one) might not direct the incoming sound back out to the speakres ... so I'm not worried about not hearing it as I record. But I _am_ worried about not finding any sound in the captured clip!

I'll try the "capture in mono" suggestion and see what happens.

Well im sure you have checked it but I can only suggest checking the VDub audio settings so that the audio input is using the line-in from the sound card and that the audio cable IS in the line-in socket and not the mic or something.
Good luck, im sure you'll work it out soon.
