Anyone else experienced this? I've been using Virtual Dub along with my ATI AIW card, plus TMPGenc to capture my VHS tapes, and then convert to DVD, with some success.

However, since my sound card (I think this is the reason) is not great, the audio/video synch is not great - no 'drift' over time, just short-term lack of tight synch.

So yesterday I bought the Pinnacle studio deluxe package, which includes a PCI AVDV capture card, and a full version of Pinnacle Studio 8. Tests so far are 'so - so' - seem to be getting more 'jerkiness' even on MJPEG AVI captures (my system is P4 2.4 GHz) - but anyway, I went to launch TMPG to see how it handled the captured AVI, and ... it won't even run now - on clicking the shortcut, I see a very brief hourglass (split-second), then nothing happens. Rebooted; no change.

Any thoughts?

And - do others see this 'jerkiness' with Pinnacle? It's quite infrequent and random, (after 5 seconds, 10 seconds, etc) but don't think I saw this with my vdub captures. The audio-synch IS better; but this jerkiness is probably enough to make me return the package. AND - I 'must' have TMPG for other reasons!
