here is what i am using
VCR/TV for source
WinTV card to capture
AVI_IO or Virtualdub at 640 * 480 (both give the same result)
PICVideo MJPEG at setting 19 with interlaced video
avisynth to resize and frameserve
CCE to encode to 720 * 480 DVD compliant interlaced MPEG2
On the computer the video looks ok, the interlacing is still ugly, but i can't see any problems. Once I play the DVD on the TV, however, there are problems.
For the first five minutes (random) or so the video is perfect - during fast action everything is smooth. Then, in the middle of a motion scene everything gets choppy (field order reversed). This continues for several minutes, and then the video is suddenly perfect again. The pattern then repeats itself.
I don't know how to fix this, if anyone knows a possible fix, please make a suggestion.
