Someone else wrote in this forum that he encountered a 2GB limit within avi (DV Type 2), which where generated by VirtualDub.I tried to reproduce this and found that it is true. Yes, the file is greater than 2GB (6GB for 30 MIn footage), but only VirtualDub can reproduce the movie. Any other program just stops after exactly 14510 frames. With PAL frameratze this will give 2GB of video. It seems that a formnat error occurs within the file after 2GB data. Anybody know what to do?
(This is a NTFS under Win2K partition)

  2. I have done a 4 gig file in Vdub and I can play it fine in VDub however when going to view the file in media player I too get an error if I try to advance the movie past 2gig, if I leave it to play on its own however it plays fine so i would be interested in the solution to this also. I too am using win2k and ntfs. I have noticed though that if i open the file in TMPGenc I can view it in its entirety and drag the slider to any part of the movie with out any errors and they encode without problems to so for me its just viewing them in media player that is the issue.

  3. The OpenDML specification for AVIs only allows up to 2GB files (2x the original limit). The majority of video editing programs only support the official OpenDML spec, resulting in the behavior you describe. Depending on what you're trying to do, the multisegment capabilities of VirtualDub might be helpful.

This seems plausible. Can you direct me to some documentation about multisegments in VirtualDub?
