BeSweet will transcode mp2 to mp3. Using the GUI, select mp3 as output format. When the select source file window pops up make sure you change the extension in the upper right to mp2. Hit mp2-mp3 and that's it.

You're using the GUI, right? Also, your mpeg audio must be in mp2 format. You shouldn't have any problem opening them.

    Maybe this will help:

Oh well, maybe it would be easier for you if you just used Goldwave. It'll let you open a mp2 and save it as mp3. You can find it here:
    http://www.goldwave.com/release.html
Not sure what the shareware limitations are though.

What I meant by the type of file is the actual extension, i.e. mpa, mp2 etc.

The file you want to encode, the last three letters of the file name after the ".". You might be using the Windows setting that hides known file extensions. If so you can change the setting under Folder Options in Control Panel. Then uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" on the "View" tab.

Ok. Now that you have the files in mp3 form, are you able to play them before you burn? And all cd audio discs will show the file as .cda and only 1k large.

Well then, I'm afraid all I can suggest is trying another burning software.
