  1. rharv: If you're running the 1.05 firmware on your ND-1300A you should really update your firmware to the latest 1.09 version. It will probably fix the issues you have with the CMC media.

  2. Do you really think so? I seem to be able to burn the CMC's with a Memorex label, but those Imation+Rs have been giving errors at just about the same sector everytime. (see 'consistent media errors' thread).

I hesitate to mess with firmware while under warranty since this is the third burner, all replaced free under warranty...

  3. But the Memorex CMC were DVD-R media and not DVD+R right? You will get a lot more support for media if you update to 1.09 and it should also improve the writing quality so yes it's really recommended.
If the Imation is 4x DVD+R media by CMC then the MID code is not even included in the 1.05 firmware.

I think when it comes to cmc you get what you they pay for. I have had two sets of philips discs that turned out to be cmcs. All 50 discs burned without a problem. I think cmc can mke great discs as long as the brand name pays for a great disc.

  5. Just got a 25 pack of Memorex +R 4x. They were CMC, and they only burn at 4x in my Optorite 0401. Oh, well, at least they burn at 4x in my Sony 500a; Riteks wouldn't.

The older pack was Ricoh. It burned at 8x max in the Optorite. So, on to another brand.

The visible differences were, the CMCs had a pinkish cast to the silver tops, were "rough" textured (the ricohs were smoother on the tops) and the new ones were on a black spindle. The older ones were on gray.

  7. I just didn't want to be bothered with waiting for media to arrive in the mail that may be defective. If ther is a problem with the Memorex, I can just bring them back to the store I got them from, but so far I've burned about 75 of them, flawless!

Memorex actually works? wow, that is first time to us. I had bad experence with their DVD-RAM before then stopped buying it. Agreed with DaveS, how long will your CMC MEMOREX last?? 6 month? If it cannot last longer than a year, i say it is crp disc.

Anyone heard of anything about Memorex is asking Optodisc making their dvds??? I heard Memorex does not use CMC no more and is using optodisc.

All the Memorex 4x +R's I have bought on Amazon.com (25 packs for around $28.99-$29.99 shipped free) were all Ricoh. They were all Taiwan manufactured. Grey bottoms. Everyone of them burned good. I have purchased 300 of them from Amazon.com.
