I have downloaded movies in .asf form and tryed to convert them with Virtual Dub and TMPGEnc and it wont let me. It says they are unsupported or damaged. I have tryed to convert them to anything and it still wont work. I have even tryed to fix them and even rencode them. Then I get the error about a "liscence" to do it but I can watch them in Media Player just fine. I have downloaded them from Cinema Now. Is this a problem because of the "liscence" or is it me? If its me, what can I do, if its a "liscence" thing, how am I supposed to make VCD's out of the movies that I have downloaded? If thats the case, isnt that wrong?? Or am I just up the creek without a paddle. If I need to just go ahead and delete them because I cant covert or burn them I will, Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.

I've had similar problems with asf files in the past - virtualdub tells you that the file was originally x bytes long and now it is y bytes long and it must have been truncated. It the says Data chunk not found ?

The key is that Microsoft own the asf rights and so virtualdub didn't offer any more support for it. Virtualdub 1.3c is the last version that does. I also use ASFTools which can reindex the file and often fix the problem.
    If in doubt, Google it.
