  1. Hi i have a few divx films that i want to put onto a dvd and play though my dvd player, my player won't play divx's so i need to convert it to dvd or to a vcd format, if i do that would i be able to have more than one film on a dvd and how would i skip from film to film. If i changed it to dvd format then what do i have to do?

First you need to convert your files to DVD compatible mpegs. For DVD there's three basic resolutions for you to consider, the higher the resolution the higher the bitrate required and the larger the file so the less minutes per disk:

    - 352x240 mpeg1/2, this is VCD resolution and you can get up to 6 hrs. on a DVD-R, so three movies

    - 352x480 mpeg2, this is called 1/2 D1 and you can get up to 4 hrs., so 2 movies.

    - 720x480 mpeg2, full D1, up to 2 hrs, 1 movie.

    * Note, times are for reference only and depend entirely on encoding method.

Once you have your files which are sized to fit on a DVD-R (4.3 GB) you can create a menu and author and burn. There's several guides which give details for what you want, here's one.
