    Ok, I have the LG GSA-4040 firmware A301, windows XP Pro, and have a slight problem

    For some reason or other, when I insert a blank DVD (doesnt matter what type, I have tried every one except for +R) windows does not detect the media. Nero 6 doesnt detect it, dvd info, nothing. DVD info reports the drive as not ready when a blank DVD is inserted.

    BTW, this all came about after I reformatted my computer. It also has difficulty reading DVD-RW's that I burned already

    If anyone can help me out, that would be great!

    Sounds like it may be an Aspi layer problem. Download ForceAspi, install it per the instructions and see if it works then.

    what ASPI are you running? try forcedASPI (4.60) available on this site.

    I used Nero Info Tool, and found that there is no system ASPI, but there is a NeroASPI, version 2.0.1.56

    I will try the new force ASPI... thanks
