  1. I recently purchased a HP dvd movie writere dc3000. I figured out how to use arcsoft showbiz, but the result is a very jerky dvd.

After searching this site (and others) I learn that jerky results are common with showbiz. The sites did not communicate how to avoid the poor results.

    My questions:

    1. What's the solution to the showbiz jerky results (appear to occur during the write)

    2. What other "beginning" software packages does the community recommend as alternatives? I like the HP hardware.

Am I stuck with showbiz or can other software capture date from the movie writer?

    All feedback appreciated.

    Regards,

  3. I opened showbiz and used the capture feature.
I captured 10 minutes from sony handycam/hi8 via
    the dc3000.

After the capture, I immediately wrote to the dvd
    with the default settings.

I then played the disk with HPs PowerDVD. The image,
    audio was jerky.

I did this several times with the same result. The playback
online, prior to the writing, appears OK.

I searched the web and found out that showbiz is known for this
    jerky movement.

Now, I have used the HP Transfer Wizard with the
dc3000 and other than getting stung with the 4.7GB
issue, the dvds were generally OK.

    Any ideas any?

    regards,

I wasn't too awfully impressed with arcsoft. I tried converting an mpeg2 I had to DVD format. However, 12 hours of transcoding later...it looked wonderful...but the sound was about 2 seconds out of sync. Ick. What I suggest is to click on the *Guides* section of this website and check out what they have for capturing video. If it's anything like backing up store-bought DVD's, there's prolly software out there for free, or very inexpensive, that will do what yer wanting to do, only better than arcsoft. You should be able to use whatever software u want, rather than being tied down to arcsoft. Sorry I can't help u, I've just not done any capturing like what you are doing.

As for your HP....I have a 300i and like it alot. While HP is usually overlooked in these forums as being a good writer, PC world has yours and mine listed in the top 5 consistently as being fast and high quality burners. The big push these days is for dual format writers. My + works fine for the 150 bux I paid for it. I've yet to find a player that won't play my backups. Good luck.

  5. That program came with one of the DVD burners I bought and I could never get it to do anything right. Try NeoDVD Plus, at least it works.

I have started a FAQ with a user group linked to it for this product at:

    http://www.k0lee.com/dc3000

I am confident that we'll get to the bottom of your video problem and any other issues that you might experience with this product. The user group is monitored by individuals at HP who are responsible for the dc3000.
