I've been backing up my movies successfully to my LG 4040B burner for two months now, but recently when i tried archiving my data files for the first time, nothing will burn. Here's my specs:

    Fresh install of XP Prp
    Updated ASPI drivers
LG 4040B firmware 300a on Promise RAID/ATA133 integrated card (4th IDE channel Master)
Liteon DVD Rom (3rd IDE Master)
Liteon 48x12x48 CDR (3rd IDE Slave)
    3 HD's (1st IDE Masnter, 2nd IDE Master/Slave)
CloneDVD (works fine for movie backups)
    AnyDVD 1.6.3.3
NERO 6.0.0.23 (Recognises burners, freezes upon Checking Disc...requires hard reboot)

I've tried enabling DMA, disabling it. I've downloaded the VIA ASPI drivers, I reformatted & reinstalled XP Pro...yet to no avail. Is there anything obvious I'm missing? I've tried burning via Nero & the XP built in burning. I've tried installing B's Gold 5 which restarts my computer upon execution (checking drives).

I'm really at a loss as to what could be my problem...any suggestions appreciated. I'm pretty literate with my computer & have searched google many times over for a solution but no luck as of yet.

I too bought this DVD Burner to burn DVD's, which it does extremely well.
You will find your LiteON CD burner will be more efficient at backing up files
because it burns at a faster speed!.
If you thought you could sell your CD burner, they are worth nothing!, so you might as well continue to use it!.

Live with it. and update your LG firmware to 301A

  3. try moving LG 4040B DVD burner to an IDE channel. Optical drives do not play well on raid controllers.

Colindale...backing up 100gigs to CD's is not my idea of a good time...hence the dvd burner.

jesus_verga: I will try switching them around tonite & see if it works.
