I have a software "Movie Joiner Jump" which claims to join both audio and video. However I get no audio after the join my avi movie and all the formats are the same for both audio and video. I took up this option as I am struggling with instructions for virtualdub having looked at 3 different websites. doom.org nickys page and dvdrhelp. Can u help at all? Thanks

Having never used Movie Joiner, I would still suggest you use VirtualDub. The instructions are not complex.

Open the first avi in VirtualDub.
Select FILE | APPEND AVI SEGMENT
When prompted, select your second AVI
From the Audio Menu, select 'Direct Stream Copy'
From the Video Menu, select 'Direct Stream Copy'
From the FILE menu, select 'FILE | SAVE AVI'
Type in your new AVI filename, and your done. The join process shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

The only thing you need to be wary of, is audio with 5.1 AC3 sound. This type of audio, when joined, has it's timeline damaged. If you later extract it, you must repair it with AC3Fix. This isn't necessary with MP3, MP2, or PCM audio.
Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...

Thanks DJRumpy. I worked it out with Virtualdub after many attempts. Movie Joiner I have never used but can only imagine that perhaps you might have to extract the audio separately or something like that, if it wasn't for the audio it would be better than Virtualdub less hassle
