    My HP300i refuses to identify brand of media unless I first burn it- And it doesnt matter which program I use to try to identify-Nero, DVDInfo, etc. Any suggestions?

    Hmm, I thought you have have to burn the disc first in order to see the manufacturer ID.

    It depends on the firmware.

    Try to use the latest one
    If that doesn't work then forget about it...
