Can anyone tell me how to check the firmware version on my Toshiba SD210E? There seems to be different versions out there which may account for my Tosh not playing SVCDs (frozen screen) or DVD+RWs from a Philips 890 dvd-rom enabled (disk error).

Oops sorry is it a standalone? You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off. -
Sorry, should have said. Yes it's standalone.
It's 2 years old now & was replaced by the SD220 & now the SD230.
It's also multi-region in case that makes a difference. -
Try the " Zoom 6 0 6 Zoom " on the remote.
It showed me my firmware on Toshiba sdk620. -
Result!
My UK SD210E has Bootrom V1.400 & Mainrom V1.700 R2
I'll look & see if there's an upgrade available.
Tried converting some windows media files to vcd using Tmpgenc & burning using Nero 5.5 at 2x speed. Picture quality looks good but keeps freezing the odd frame or 2.
Maybe I just need a new dvd
