Capture Format

I need to capture video from VHS. What's a good reslolution to use, and what format should I capture into? (MPEG 1/2, DivX, or Uncompressed AVI)
I plan to put the captured files onto VCD/SVCD and keep them to watch on my PC.

if you're going to put them on SVCD, use 480x480 (480x576 for PAL).
If you're only going to watch them on your PC, then I'd capture at 640x480 and convert to DivX.
