    Is it possible to play VCDs on my Matsui 225 DVD Player?

    the very word "matsui" almost answers your question. burn a totally compliant vcd and test it with that. AFAIK vcd playing is part of the dvd spec so all DVD players should play vcd. More people have problems playing svcd as that is not part of dvd spec and early players didnt support it. Download(or buy) the test smaple you find somewhere here on this site,
