  1. I want to either burn VCD (format) on a DVD disc, if this will work, or find out how to reduce bitrate to the point of VCD in a DVD. This sounds strange, but TV recordings only need VCD resolution, so at 250MB for a one hour I can get 18 on a DVD. This is beyond what is probably possible, but I have seen 6 hours of programs on a single DVD. I use ATI TV Wonder PCI, TEMPGEnc Plus, Nero 6 Ultra. For DVD copying I use SmartRipper, DVD2AVI, TMPGEnc plus and Nero 6 Ultra. Until now I have only burned VCD's, The DVD burner is new and I have visions of 8 episodes on a disc. Hardware is Plextor CDRW 10/24 and Pioneer DVDR A06. Help is appreciated. (I have tried the low res DVD setting in TMPEGEnc Plus).

    Thanks

Look for an AUTHORING platform that supports putting MPEG-1 directly
    onto the DVD
this way all you need to add are 18 buttons on a still black fram to launch each VCD

I believe VCD spec is legal on DVD, its just you need an authoring program that doesn't convert the MPEG-1 files to MPEG-2 in the process

This will need to be done tho'---VCD audio is only 44K needs to be bumped up to 48K to go on dvd with MPEG-1 at 352x240 for ntsc
